Women's Volleyball Sweeps Pair of Matches at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Trine University women's volleyball team picked up a pair of wins at a tri-match hosted by Franklin College.

The Thunder started the day with a 3-1 victory over Bluffton University. The first set went to Trine by the score of 25-20, but the team then dropped the second to the Beavers by the score of 25-22. The third was a back and forth affair that reached a 25-25 tie before the Thunder took the final two points for the 27-25 victory. They then took the final set by the score of 25-19.

Junior Madison Munger (Indianapolis, Ind. / Franklin Central) led the way offensively for the Thunder with 14 kills and a .250 hitting percentage. Three other members of the team just missed out on double-digit kill totals with juniors Sarah Toles (Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble) and Jacqueline Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lutheran Northwest) finishing with nine and freshman Breanna Small (Indianapolis, Ind. / Beech Grove) coming in with eight.

Baughman also finished the match with 33 assists to lead the team. Classmate Lindsey DeCamp (New Haven, Ind. / New Haven) led the way with 13 digs. Freshman Paris Outwater (Bronson, Mich. / Bronson) finished with five aces in the victory.

The Thunder took down host Franklin in the second contest of the day winning the match 3-1. Once again they took the first set handily by the score of 25-18. This time the held on and took the second set with the score 25-22 before dropping the third 25-19. They rebounded in the fourth with a 25-23 win to finish off the match.

Once again Munger led the way this time with 20 kills. Toles came in second with 14 kills on a .429 hitting percentage. Baughman continued to impress with 38 assists to lead the way while also coming in with three service aces and 18 digs. Outwater also finished the contest with three service aces and second on the team with 15 digs.

The Thunder improve to 16-11 following the pair of victories. They will continue their season on Wednesday, October 30 with a home match against Albion College. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
