Despite the loss, the Thunder came away with victories in three individual matches, beginning with newcomer Chase Gibson (Bronson, Mich./Bronson) at 197 pounds with a 7-4 decision against Zach Reynolds that gave Trine the early 3-0 overall lead.
Adrian took the next three matches with two being by pinfall and the other a forfeit to move ahead on the scoreboard, 18-3.
Trine's next victory came at 141 pounds in senior Caleb Maddox (Russiaville, Ind./Western) who posted a 6-2 decision against Domini Paterra to make the overall score, 18-6.
The next three bouts all belonged to the Bulldogs as they padded their lead with a tech fall and a pair of decisions to take a 29-6 advantage.
Junior Nick Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) had the other victory for the home squad by capturing his 174-pound match against Bryant Moore by an 8-3 decision.
The final two matches of the night ended up in another pin for Adrian and a decision in the finale as the Bulldogs went on to win by the final of 35-9.
Trine will travel to Cleveland, Ohio to take part in the Si Ostrach Duals hosted by Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, Jan. 19. The Thunder will take on a trio of opponents during the day, beginning with a matchup against Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College at noon.
