ALBION, MICH. – The Trine University women's locrosse team was defeated in their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) opener. Albion College came out on top of the Thunder by the score of 20-1.
The Britons started the game strong scoring 13 goals in the first half and keeping the Trine offense off the board to take a commanding 13-0 lead into the intermission.
The lone Thunder goal came when senior Samantha Ihrie (Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble) took advantage of a free position attempt to connect for her 14th goal of the season.
Junior Audrey Poteet (Indianapolis, Ind. / Ben Davis) got the start in net for the Thunder and finished the game with 17 saves.
Trine falls to 0-1 in the MIAA and 2-7 overall following the loss. They will look to bounce back when they travel to Saint Mary's College on Saturday, April 7 for a 1 p.m. conference contest.
